We started off our Christmas celebrations on Friday, where we exchanged gifts with our nieces, Karsyn and Kaia. We are going to see them on Christmas, but because we are all traveling and have very little room in the car, we thought it would be fun to let the kids go ahead and open their gifts. So, this is where I would insert a picture of Maks opening his first Christmas present and Maya opening the box of play make-up and fingernail polish that quite possibly could be her favorite present ever....however, I left the memory card in the computer. Yes, I brought the camera, but not the memory card. We're waiting on pictures from Aunt Krista, so I'll post those later.
Since we will be out of town for Christmas, Clint and I contacted Santa and told him that we would be gone and that he should probably bring his gifts on Friday night. He agreed, so Maya left him some cookies and left the reindeer food that she made with Mrs. Claus on the front porch. On Saturday, we woke up to find Maya playing in her room with her make-up (hence the picture above). We had to tell her to go downstairs and see if Santa had come.
Maya got a train, some games and puzzles, a scarf, an apron to help me cook with and some more fingernail polish. We immediately played three games of Candyland while Maks watched.
Saturday night, we made pizza and Maya got to put her new apron to use...isn't it cute??
My little man was enjoying watching the girls working in the kitchen.
On Saturday and Sunday night, Maya and I made cookies, cookies and more cookies. I'm not even sure why we made so many, but that's what you are supposed to do around Christmas and that's what my little girl loves to do...so, why not? I figure we can send some to Maya's school for the kids or pack them up and take them to the family this week. Anyway, here's how some of them turned out...
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!
Sounds like Maya and Jadyn have a lot in common! Jadyn's favorite birthday gifts were the cookbooks she got last year. Paula Deen has a kids' cookbook that uses pictures in the recipes - great for pre-readers/ new readers. We also LOVE Southern Living's kids' cookbook - lots of recipes you can ACTUALLY serve for a meal. Barnes and Noble has a whole cooking section with cookbooks/ aprons/ etc inside the childrens' department. It's Jadyn's idea of heaven. Chef Maya would probably have a pretty good time, too!
ReplyDeleteWow, she sure does look like she likes the make-up and hair accessories! :) Have a Merry Christmas and safe travels!
