5th Anniversary

Clint and I celebrated five years of togetherness this past weekend. Our anniversary isn't technically until September 8th, but we took advantage of the long weekend. I surprised Clint with a hot air balloon ride at sunset.

Getting the balloon aired up

More air...

Several people came out from their house to wave at us.

The other balloon that was flying with us. This couple was celebrating their 35th anniversary...they have a few on us!!

A view of downtown Kansas City

The other balloon flew over a lake, so they stopped to take a dip.

A few horses who were irritated by the loud noises from our propane tanks

Clint forgot to smile and I was the one that was nervous.

We landed in a cemetery (at the entrance, thank goodness). This is what the balloon looks like being packed up.

Clint and I sitting on the balloon in it's case.
So, a few things I didn't know about hot air ballooning:
1. It can be a sport. Apparently there is some money to be made.
2. The basket is tiny!! There were three of us in there and you couldn't have put another person in.
3. They just take of and land where ever they want to (according to the wind). Hence the reason we landed in a cemetery. It looked like a good spot to our pilot and the sun was going down, so what the heck!
4. If you have a fear of heights, you get over it quickly. The balloon moves so slowly (we were going a whopping 3.5 miles per hour) that you don't feel any movement.
So, we ended the evening with some dinner and we stayed in a hotel downtown. Clint surprised me with some diamond earrings on my pillow!!! It was so nice to have an adult night, since we don't get that very often, so thank you Krista and Andrew (Clint's sister and her husband) for keeping Maya. We really, really appreciate it. And thank you to Clint for the last five years! I am looking forward to celebrating many more years together! I love you!
